I want to start this post out with two of my favorite quotes….
“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with great talent. Genius will not. Un-rewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not. The world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence, determination and love are omnipotent.” ~ Calvin Coolidge
“Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did.” ~Newt Gingrich
Aren’t these quotes so true? And yet so many times, we give up way too soon. We give up on our friends, our marriages, our kids and our businesses. We lose sight of what is close to our heart and what we have been working so hard for. Unfortunately, perseverance is a quality that a lot of people lack.
How many times have you failed? How many times have you wanted to give up? How many times have you picked yourself up from failure, brushed yourself off and continued to move forward? This is what really matters. In my experience, when we are tired and want to throw in the towel, we are right around the corner from a massive reward.
Check out this video on Derek Redmond. This IS true perseverance!
People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, make them. ~G.B. Shaw, Mrs. Warren’s Profession, 1893
Keep moving forward my friends! Don’t let anything stop you!

This really hit home with me! So many times I see people quit at the
first sign os a problem. Then come up with a dozen reasons to quit.
All the great leaders of our time had moments like these, but the difference is that they DID NOT QUIT! That’s the difference between success and failure.
Great video! A real demonstration of perseverance. People really don’t know how close or how far away they are from success. It comes from one accomplishment at a time.

Ellen,
I so agree! Perseverance is essential and is the only way to find true success in anything worthwhile. It is the act of picking yourself back up when you have failed or just petered out that is rewarding in itself, and leads to the energy that will keep you going.
Thanks for providing great inspiration! I’m definitely sharing this and will return for more!

Thank you for commenting! And no, we can never stop……even when we don’t feel like going anymore…..
Ellen,
I really liked this video. It showed that even though he knew he lost, he had to still make it over the finish line. No matter what. We all have ups and downs but we can be strong if we truly want too.
Thanks for sharing such a great post.

I am fighter…I was taught to never give up. And if you fall down, you get back up, dust yourself off and move on. It is not about success or failure, its about whether or not you continue to play the game.
Aloha Ellen, awesome information and enjoyed the video clip. Yes we all need this perseverance! And most of all, someone guiding us to get there, if we need a extra hand. Lani

Hello Marvin
I am new to this internet thing also and I am patching posts together as best that I can! My love is certainly not writing but I am trying to do my best.
I guess I use 3 things: In person networking(I am heavily networked in the town I live in), Facebook/Twitter and finally, using a tribe…….
